Road Closure Notice
Intersection of 7th Street & Union City Highway
The City of Hickman would like to notify residents and motorists that the intersection of 7th Street and Union City Highway will be closed beginning Monday, March 9, 2026, for roadway repairs. The intersection will remain closed until the project is completed.
This work is necessary to improve the safety, reliability, and overall condition of the roadway. We encourage motorists to plan ahead and use alternate routes during the construction period.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this temporary closure may cause and appreciate your patience and cooperation as these important infrastructure improvements are completed.

Customers may continue to make payments in person at City Hall or by using the night deposit box.

Our Mission
The area now known as Hickman was originally home to various Indigenous cultures for centuries before European-American settlement began following the American Revolutionary War.
In 1819, James Mills built the first cabin on the site, laying the foundation for what would become the community of Mills Point. As the settlement grew, a post office was established in 1830. Around 1834, G. Marr purchased much of the surrounding land and expanded the community by laying out additional streets.
In 1837, the town was renamed Hickman in honor of the maiden name of G. Marr’s wife. The Kentucky General Assembly officially incorporated Hickman as a city on February 18, 1841, and just four years later, in 1845, Hickman was designated as the county seat of Fulton County.
Today, Hickman continues to honor its rich history while serving as a vibrant community along the banks of the Mississippi River.
